Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Police mentioned they were notified by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then discovered many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

City officials said they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking official said the attack made him without words and needed to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
