Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
